REPORTS:
Treasurer: Jean Rowe gave her report and reminded members to send in their dues.
Mini Lunch: Nita Roethe thanked all of the hostesses for their participation.
Flower Show: Carole Wolfman reported approximately 400 people attended the show. She is working on the final report with Piedmont Garden Club and it appears that costs will be less than expected.
Ways and Means: Ruth Fortune has 28 “consultants” who have offered services for the May silent auction. She handed out “gold stars” to those who have offered services. Ruth described some of the auction items and will list them on our website.
Library Flowers: Mari Tischenko reminded members that the four local garden clubs bring flowers to the library and she asked for sign-ups for our participation.
Forget Me Nots: The next deadline is April 26th and this will be the last issue of the 2009-2010 year.
Bouquets: The next meeting will be May 10th at Lexie Corbitt’s.
Membership: Margie Murphy announced the following five new members: Barbara Blunden, Marty DeJonghe, Anita Hughes, Tina Locke and Sheila Wendt. They will be introduced by their sponsors at the May picnic.
Heather Farm: Caroline Hayes gave the following report for Joan Andrews. Deadheading in the rose garden will begin next week.
Tree Project: Caroline said clean-up of the area already done will be completed this spring. In the fall, we will finance work on the area east of this section. Heather reported on this work in her annual report to GCA and will talk about our project at the Zone XII meeting in the fall.
Beautification: Gina thanked those who worked on the off-ramp for Orinda in Action day. They were assisted in spreading mulch by three Orinda firefighters. She hopes to plant more bulbs and poppies in the fall.
The first Tuesday of each month will be a regular work day at a project needing help. May 4th will be at the triangle.
Gina reported the four clubs worked on the crossroads planters this month and will do so again in June. The four clubs also will work with the Historical Society on the restoration of the DeLaveaga train station.
She reminded members that old or unused medicines may be put in zip-lock bags and taken to the Orinda Police Department for disposal.
Horticulture: Kirsten Whitsett asked members to sign up for a trip to an herb garden in Vacaville on May 20th, followed by lunch at Pietro’s.
